Northern businesses value Northlink's defence industry briefing

On Wednesday August 17, Northlink hosted a Northern region defence industry briefing. The briefing was designed as a primer to businesses wishing to enter the defence industry and harness the emerging project opportunities such as Land400 and Sea 5000.

The briefing was hosted at Melbourne Polytechnic and was a collaboration between Northlink and AIDN (Australian Industry Defence Networks). SME's from around the north appreciated the industry update as they learned how government and related institutions are supporting SME's and heard strategies used by other SME's in the northern region to engage in defence industry projects. They also had the valuable opportunity to hear from one of the defence industry primes - BAE Systems - on how to engage with the primes and 2nd, 3rd and 4th tier suppliers.

The event was MC'd by Rob Wood, CEO of Melbourne Polytechnic, and the line up of presenters included:

Sue Smith - Executive Officer, Australian Industry and Defence Network - Vic

Charlotte Morris – Australian Industry and Defence Network - Alliances Manager

Miles Kenyon - Program Development Manager, Defence Materials Technology Centre
