About Us

Founded by Paul Hughes in 1991, Integra Tooling Systems begun from the family home garage as a mechanical engineering and product development design service. Joined by his father Russell Hughes in 1993, the two came together to bring a long-awaited invention to life: the Punch-IT Coil Processing Line, the world’s first high-speed coil processing line. Commercialised in 1996, Punch-IT became the basis of Integra’s manufacturing capabilities. In 2001, Paul’s wife Erika Hughes joined the family business, and together they sought to blend global advancements with local expertise in the Australian manufacturing industry.

Integra moved to their first facility in 1999 in Thomastown, quickly outgrowing their first location and moving to a new facility in 2003, co-locating design and manufacturing. In 2004 the business rebranded to Integra Systems and purchased their first piece of additional manufacturing equipment to expand their sheet metal manufacturing capabilities. Integra moved to Northcorp Boulevard in 2010, where they reside to this day, offering end-to-end services from design engineering to prototyping to manufacturing.

From 2010, Integra Systems continued to grow and expand their operations, introducing their product division Integra TransForm in 2016. In the same year, Integra purchased one of Victoria’s first Salvagnini L5 Fibre Optic Laser Cutting machines. They purchased a Salvagnini P2 Panel Bender in 2019, installed an Auto Feed Laser Tower for 24/7 operations in 2021, and additional P2 and L5 machines in 2023.

Integra’s own need for Industry 4.0 optimisation was the catalyst for their journey. In 2018, they underwent research and development to create an all-in-one kiosk based digital solution that would capture data to centralise workflows, reduce waste, and automatically sychronise this data into backend systems. This solution was built in 2020 and commercialised in 2022, now known as the Integra K4.0.
